The Most Grossed Movie of all Time!

Avatar

Yes, know it or not, Avatar is the most grossed movie of all time and is directed and created by James Cameron.Without adjusting for inflation, Cameron's Titanic and Avatar are the two highest-grossing films of all time at $2.16 billion and $2.78 billion.

Plot

A paraplegic ex-marine catches a new life on the distant planet of Pandora, only to discover himself fighting humankind beside the planet's indigenous Na'vi race in this ambitious digital 3D sci-fi epic from Academy Award-winning Titanic director James Cameron. When his twin brother is murdered, disabled ex-Marine Jake Sully is enlisted to aid a mining expedition on the distant jungle moon of Pandora as only his DNA will pledge with the alien hybrid body, known as an Avatar, that lets humans to breathe the toxic air. With instructions to penetrate the Na’vi, Jake discovers himself falling in love with a native girl, Neytiri, which creates a complex twisted scenario in the plot.
Soon battle lines are drawn and Jake needs to choose which side he will fight on when the time comes. The film was shot on the branded FUSION digital 3D cameras developed by Cameron in collaboration with Vince Pace, and deals a revolutionary mix of live-action dramatic performances and computer-generated effects.

Box Office

Avatar earned $3,537,000 from midnight screenings domestically (United States and Canada). The film earned $26,752,099 on its opening day, and $77,025,481 over its opening weekend. Avatar released internationally in more than 14,000 screens, with the initial 3-D release limited to 2,200 screens. Revenues in the film's second weekend decreased by only 1.8% in domestic markets, which was a surprise and it still kept the number one box office spot.

  • The shooting locations for Avatar were in: Kauai, Hawaii, Los Angeles, California, New Zealand and Oahu.

Dasht-e Lut, Iran
This area is a salt desert and it is the 25th largest desert in the world. Most of the area is covered in volcano lava, which kind of makes sense where the hot temperatures come from.

This desert gets so much sunshine, absorbing extremely high temperatures, meaning there is no place for humans to live. Dasht-e Lut has reached the hottest temperature then anywhere on earth between the years 2003 and 2009.

This Lut desert mostly contains sand with ravines and sinkholes. When it rains, it rains in small periods of time and is quite rare to find water as it is mostly dries up quickly, leaving behind salt. Hottest and one of the driest place on earth with
Record High Temperature: (70.7°C, 159-160°F).

Al ’Aziziyah, Libya

At 13 September 1922, a high temperature  was recorded , which is the highest temperature that was recorded on earth at that time, however there have been arguments whether this was an accurate recording as the thermometers were damaged and had to be replaced, as well as a weather station which was set up on a tarmac which absorbed more sunlight and caused the air surrounding hotter, explaining the high temperature readings.

On 22 December 2007, the Norwegian-U.S. Scientific Traverse of East Antarctica visited the base and entered the buildings, finding that it was mostly intact. Scientists and other research staffs come to this land to learn more about the earth’s history and weather. It is one of the wildest and the loneliest regions of the planet earth.
